...just a few words about me

The fact that you’ve found your way here is the first step towards us working together to change the way we shop.

I want what you find here to be a conscious need, so that you know exactly why you are buying it. Together, we will try to shape your thoughtful, conscious shopping need from the variety of my available designs, which I have carefully created by hand in my Creative Tailoring Studio in Gdynia.

If this is your next step away from overstuffed store shelves, I’m even happier to welcome you here.

Tomasz Płuska – creator, craftsman, tailor, designer, vintage hunter & lover, self-taught in sewing for 5 years.

I constantly develop my passion for design and creating new projects from recycled materials, traveler, former football player. Cameras and shots are also not unfamiliar to me. I have millions of photos from over 100 trips.

If it weren't for sewing, I would probably be designing furniture from wood... of course, not from new material :)

A little bit about me:

For years, I have been collecting old clothes, blankets, bedspreads, pillowcases, curtains, refreshing, unpicking, and sewing original designs.

I repurpose vintage items and anything that comes my way from my clients that we want to bring back to life. I apply various methods, techniques of customization, upcycling, machine sewing, and hand sewing.

...

15 years spent in the fast fashion industry... as an unaware salesperson, manager, involved in the scale of overproduction, because no one was talking about it, because it wasn't important. Over the years, millions of tons of clothes, made in China, Bangladesh, etc., were unloaded and sent to, unfortunately, unaware customers.

Without this experience, there wouldn’t have been a loud declaration of "I’ll do the opposite and start sewing with recycled materials" and the decision to finally take out the sewing machine I bought in a discount store after 5 years... it was November 2019.

And that's when the unpicking and stitching of clothes, fabric scraps began, paying attention to construction, and the details of how a product is finished and sewn.

Vintage has always been magical to me and showed me many qualities, styles, and details that we can no longer find today, or should only be found with undeniable, irreplaceable QUALITY.

Currently:

Gdynia, where, as the creator of the Creative Tailoring Studio, I develop my brand bandida como yo.

A premium brand at the intersection of vintage style and original upcycling, with a solid foundation in tailoring craftsmanship. It's becoming more colorful, but when the project calls for vintage aesthetics, it can be tamed with elegance.

The Creative Tailoring Studio is an open space in the vintage spirit, available to everyone. You can come, have a coffee, and chat with me, when I’m not on the beach :) or flipping through shelves of materials.

Have an idea for altering your clothes, giving them a second life, or curious about what I’ve sewn recently? Need advice, help with design, or styling? There’s no such thing as impossible, especially in sewing and design.

Inspiration:

The need to sew original, unique clothes that make the wearer stand out in the crowd, because it’s the crowd that "notices" which can start the process of eliminating overproduction.

One of the main inspirations for creating my brand bandida como yo was and remains the Iberian Peninsula, especially Portugal and Spain. During my travels, I collected materials and vintage gems for my studio in Łódź, sewing and remaking them.

And the phrase "bandida como yo" was spoken by Pablo Escobar from the hills overlooking Medellin… I interpret it this way... we are all "bandits":

First: We take what’s best for ourselves. We wander through life, choosing the best pieces. We absorb them, allowing them to become part of us or not.

Second: We hunt, buy, and hoard excessively. Unfortunately, we practice "steretism," so we are "bandits" when it comes to polluting our environment. I too try to be a "bandit," but a good one, who turns gathering and seeking materials and clothes into "bandit-like regeneration," creating high-quality and striking clothing and accessories.

Dream:

To contribute to a revolution in the fashion industry, aimed at completely eliminating overproduction, seasonality, and trends.

Sewing original blazers, suits, jackets, conducting author workshops, showcasing my own collection in Lisbon and other places where the sun, colors, and sand meet, at least once a year.

...

Vintage will always remain my reference point in creating new projects due to its tailoring, details, and the history embedded in the items I continually discover—materials that I would like to bring back.

And I’ll find them anyway. :)
